"The UK foreign secretary has made a series of lethal mistakes, fuelling a genocide against the Palestinian people."
"Cameron now faces the very real prospect of going down in history as the British foreign secretary who gave the green light to Israeli genocide in Gaza."
Another #UNSC resolution today on #Gaza. The Americans are expected to veto that resolution: that would be the 47th time they've provided air cover for Israel to operate with complete impunity and outwith international law.
What will the British do? Will they support the US or sit on their hands? How will that reflect the "British values" they say they wish to protect, to the extent of imposing autocratic restrictions on those whom they define as "extremists"?
If the Israeli "Lebensraum" fundamentalists want to recreate the biblical Eretz Israel (or whatever it is they choose to call it) they really should settle for Old Testament health care, life expectancy, disease, weapons (including slings), subsistence agriculture, communications technology, GDP (no USD subsidies) and 'eye for an eye' justice.
I've never been more disgusted and ashamed to be a citizen of the US. We have passively accepted our complicity in ethnic cleansing, genocide and now deliberate famine.
"More than half of North Gaza’s population is at risk of starvation and in southern Gaza, Rafah is projected to face famine by July. "
"Scotland has been drawn with Israel, Serbia and Slovakia in qualifying for the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 tournament as they look to make it to Switzerland next year."
"We find ourselves in an unprecedented situation. Never before have so many witnessed an industrial-scale slaughter in real time. Yet the prevailing callousness, timidity and censorship disallows, even mocks, our shock and grief."
Have Sunak and Starmer endorsed VP Harris's calls for an immediate ceasefire in #Gaza or are they too scared they might be lifted by Special Branch for being extremists?
"They better back off because it is my constitutional responsibility to represent the people who elected me and the people who elected me are extremely clear they wish to demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people so I am not going to be dissuaded from doing that.”
“The [UK] Government has continued to export arms to Israel without pause, despite the ICJ ruling that Israel is plausibly committing genocide.
“For almost five months, ministers have evaded MPs’ questions and misled parliament regarding reviews of arms export licences to Israel. The lack of parliamentary scrutiny of arms exports is one of the key factors in allowing this unconscionable situation to continue.”
Sunak has no power to impose public order legislation on Scotland, which remains an independent judicial jurisdiction within the UK, with its own public order legislation.
Any further restrictions on freedom of expression and assembly dictated by Sunak (and supported by Starmer) will apply exclusively to England and Wales.
"A month after allegations that a dozen United Nations staff were involved in the October 7 Hamas attack, UN investigators have yet to receive any evidence from Israel to support the claims.
"The allegations against the 12 employees of the UN Relief and Works Agency #UNRWA led 16 major donors to suspend contributions totalling $450 million at a time when more than two million Gazans are facing famine."
Any initiative to conduct war crimes trials like Nuremberg would undoubtedly be vetoed in the UNSC by the Americans with, of course, the UK abstaining. Both states are demonstrably complicit in Israeli colonialism and genocide and if there were any trials they would probably end up in the dock alongside the Israelis.
Al Jazeera reporting "at least" 77 dead and over 250 wounded in an indiscriminate attack on unarmed Palestinians trying to get access to relief supplies in Gaza City. Witnesses have reported IDF tanks, drones and artillery were turned on the crowd.
“This is an outrageous attack on a Jewish Labour councillor for having the temerity to stand up for the people of #Gaza. Martin is a principled socialist and internationalist – and it is shocking that he has been forced out for standing up for a position endorsed by the majority of voters. This anti-democratic decision should be immediately reversed.”
