Took a random regional train from Brno. A very new (2022) Škoda EMU. These trains have individual names, grape varieties grown here in the South Moravian kraj (county?). Mine is called Pálava, not a grape I would know. Ended up in a small town called Židlochovice. Will have breakfast and return to Brno, probably. #Interrail
Doing a round trip, next the short hop to Hrušovany u Brna, with a gloriously coloured monumental presumably former industrial building right by the station. #Interrail
I am glad I am much east and north of the flooded regions… hopefully my journey homewill not be affected. Will start homeward on Wednesday. From Brno towards Praha, Dresden, Berlin, Hamburg etc. #Interrail
A nice glass of Merlot and a cake called Paris–Brest in a cafe in Praha 6, 20 metres from my Airbnb. Why would I want to go to the touristy hell on the other side of the river? #Prague#Interrail

#Bahnzeit in Marienbad. A weird little train operated by GW Train Regio, where #Interrail is not valid, goes to Karlovy Vary dolní nádraží (lower station) (the CD train goes to the upper main station). Strange three-section DMU with single axles in the end sections and a powered bogie in the middle section.
My IC to Pilsen, very new and shiny. A mighty Vectron in all-white livery pulling a short rake of very posh blue-white carriages. Close variants of Railjet carriages unless I am mistaken. Despite being an IC, this train does stop at several stations between Mariánské Lázně and Plzeň hl n.
These first class carriages (and the Railjet 2nd gen ones) are perhaps the best in Europe. Discuss.

Update! Due to a “Faak”-ery in the SEE/Balkans (long delay - missed my connection) & after a lot of planning & juggling with FlixBus / train options, I decided to stay overnight in Villach, then take an early train tomorrow. Now, with the cancellations because of storm damages in Germany, I do hope I will get to Berlin at all! or at least to Munich,… & then : I’ll make a new plan. #InterRain#InterRail#ClimateChaos#climate#chaos
That's what I would probably do to be on the safe side. I don't know how this is possible with @becha#interrail ticket though.
There are two decent connections, one using night train and the daytime option. Although the former is not compatible with overnight stay in hotel and the latter might be too early for decent hotel breakfast.
Maybe going via Passau and continuing on local German lines near Czech border might also be an option.

My stay in Villach turned out to be wonderful :) I’ve napped a lot; the weather improved significantly: sunny & warm till 8PM; my hotel was a small #spa resort on the #lake - with swans! & view of #mountains! I arrived by #InterRail to Berlin (yesterday) & look who greeted me : #Linden tree ! In blossom! Its smell is enchanting… plus: an inspiring staircase for the cat & nice mural on the wall. // Friends in #Berlin , let’s catch up! Although I’m at the conference every day 5-9.6. & at training 13-14.6. … but we can try to meeet up - ping me here or on Signal.
#interRail trip continues… but first, impressions from #etc : I’ve enjoyed meeting strong women , but there was always trees in the background for me… I am taking inspiration from the turtles for the slowness… I attended the workshop about resting! And then I left… I was on the #train station on time .. -> going to #LikaLodge again!!!
Going to Vadstena. Stil no decision where to stay the next night. Assuming a few hours is enough to see Vadstena, maybe Kalmar? Karlskrona? Or perhaps even Copenhagen or Odense. Schienenersatzverkehr between Älmhult and Hässleholm this weekend, I want to avoid that, so in any case taking the coastal route. #Interrail

I have just whiled away some time enjoying a vicarious #interrail adventure with @alexture, all while listening to Ljubljana's Best FM, contemplating croissant crimes and the joys of the bidet. And there's a bag review. Cracking account and some lovely photos. Needs more puppet. Would recommend.
There's a Portal in front of the station building in Vilnius, similar to the one in Dublin/New York that was temporarily closed earlier this month. I'd forgotten there was one here too. It was cited as the first. The first permanent one maybe... there was a similar one between DUMBO in New York and the South Bank in London about fifteen years ago.
There's no mention of the onward connection to Poland on the departure screens, just Mockava.
Having fallen foul of the need for a reservation earlier in the week when traveling from Riga to Vilnius (the subject of, hopefully, a future post) we are armed with one for this journey even though there is no indication in the #Interrail app that one is required.
In the first instance I emailed my request as stipulated in the instructions that are hidden away on the Ltglink website. Having received an immediate acknowledgement but no answer 24 hours later I bought one from the friendly and helpful staff at the station. €5
Pleasant small city to overnight in when travelling from Paris towards Hamburg and the Echte Norden. Very quiet in the night, was nice to hear the birds sing when falling asleep. Relatively inexpensive Ibis Styles hotel (although I don’t see what the “styles” refers to in this case) (not in pic).
Today has been a very TGV-dominated travel day. Bordeaux–Paris and Paris–Offenburg. Expensive reservations but 300 km/h for hundreds of kilometres. #Interrail
