#discord is developing new feature called "Server Emote Packs".
This feature will allow everyone to claim emotes from discoverable servers, even without joining them. Experiment: 2023-05_inventory_guild_packs
There are two username rollout waves today. The first wave is roughly at 1:30 PM (although yesterday it was delayed 3 hours due to some P0 bugs that needed to be fixed first), with the second wave following 4 and a half hours later. The rollout advances by 4 months for Nitro users and 1 month for regular users with each wave.
If you manage a public Slack/Discord that has a jobs channel, or anything similar, you are very likely to be spammed by a company called Outhire[.]ai. They are supposedly an "AI powered" hiring platform, but really what that means is they automate creating accounts for you on Discord, Slack, Reddit, and more, and then spam the shit out of the platforms.
They're easy to spot: they all post links to outhire[.]ai and their email addresses are all [name]@outhire[.]ai.
I would not want to be working in #Discord customer service with how badly their transition to usernames is already going and it’s very very early in the process.
#discord New Username Rollout has been bumped up to at least June 2016, so if you created your account before that and have a Nitro subscription, try restarting your app.
#Twitter is owned by a goblin now. #Reddit is trying to snatch closed-source obscurity from the jaws of open-source dominance. #Discord is allergic to making decisions its users like.
It might be time to admit that blogs, forums, and chat rooms were the peak of online discourse.
So I restarted my Discord client and got notified that I can switch to a proper username without the discriminator (the numbers after the username). I was able to get my prefered username and within about 2 hours, I have started getting harassed by a guy that wanted it. His account was created 2 months ago, mine was created September 2015.
So yeah, this whole Discord username switch is going to be a complete clusterfuck, be prepared!
It's only started to rolling out to 2015 users with nitro. Rollout has some stages and this stage is last one. This stage includes all users with some parts: 2015 nitro users -> 2015 users -> 2016 nitro users -> 2016 users
Just played around with the new Jamspace activity on Discord. Pretty handy for quick maps! You can move any object (text and emoji, one-line doodles, and gifs!) to use them as tokens.
Pretty basic so far, but if you already use your Discord channel to post images and have a dice rolling bot, what else do you need to run a game?
Some people say that I should get a #Discord account, but one of the reasons I don't is because it is a centralized platform, and I know all too well that Discord will pull a Twitter (👇).
Also #discord is having a few problems with their API, so if your messages is taking a long time to send, that is the reason. It is also worth noting that you should go outside and touch some grass :)
Sorry for being gone but here is your recap on some of the latest changes in the world of #discord
