If you are an #educator, you may have spent recent weeks grappling with your position with respect to #student#NonviolentResistance. You’re not alone, and in this moment, perhaps it is helpful to identify ways #teachers & staff at #schools, #colleges & #universities have supported students engaged in nonviolent #CivilResistance. Below, I will share a range of options, progressing from familiar #faculty roles to those with greater proximity to student #NonviolentAction.
TotalEnergies tried to silence Greenpeace France by intimidating them with court action, requiring the deletion of a report into TotalEnergies' 2019 greenhouse gas emissions.
TotalEnergies claimed their emissions were 455 million tonnes of CO2e. The Greenpeace report estimated actual CO2e emissions of 1,635,648,000 tonnes.
The Paris Judicial Court dismissed the summons, giving Greenpeace France a significant victory for freedom of speech, allowing them to question the extent of the climate impact caused by companies like TotalEnergies.
This is the incredible story of six Greenpeace activists who boarded and occupied a Shell oil platform. The protest continued for 13 days and almost 4,000km. These activists are absolute heroes!
Are you worried the Antarctic sea ice shelf is currently going through a six-sigma event?
Are you considering that maybe there's more we can do than drink aperol under the heat dome and chat about the latest method for evolutionary inference?
You can still join our info session on #DirectAction and strategy TOMORROW (Wed) at 13:30 in Polo degli Adellardi (AD-A1). All are welcome!
In just 1 week, I'll be in Ferrara, Italy, for #SMBE23, together w/fellow @ScientistRebellion members. We'll be hosting a set of workshops on #CivilResistance by scientists during the conference. If curious about what it's like to participate in #DirectAction, you're welcome to attend! Details in the #SMBE website or in the poster below.
All are welcome! After all, there will be no molecular or evolutionary #biology on a dead planet.
