Trying out the new Prusa XL and… boy, has Prusa fallen behind.
I totally forgot what it was like to hang around and watch like a hawk so that I can wipe the printer's nose (nozzle) in time, before the goop messes up my print. On Bambu Lab printers that is a totally solved problem. You click "Print" and you come back for your print when it's done.
Also, printing by object (seq) happily crashes the toolheads into existing objects, so that is not a usable option.
I just received my #P1S#3dprinter from #BambuLab and was exited to start printing.
However it seems to have arrived broken.
Hopefully the Customer service responds soon.
Makerworld has a great Toothless Flexi 3D print file and I just happened to have all the right filament colors. I'm printing it again at a lower layer height to see if those lines go away.
A sort of review of the Bambu Lab P1S 3D Printer, though it's not a proper review because I never do proper reviews so it's more of some thoughts and musings...
@phranck I came across the same issue on my #BambuLab#P1S, but at the front slightly off center. If you get it fixed, please post your solution. I will document it, when it happens again and file a support case with their customer support…
Big Print! This print was too large for my Prusa MINI but it fit on the Bambu Lab P1S just fine. It’s a simple drawer/tray to fit under my monitor stand.
Sorry I can’t shut up about the quality from the Bambu Lab P1S but this is a game changer for the products I create. I may switch from laser cut parts to printed parts these look so good!
I'm not one of those people who gets a 3D printer and then posts "What mods should I do!?" because I've been at this over a decade... That said, I did already print a side mounted spool holder and filament guide for the Bambu Lab P1S because even though the printer is on a wheeled cart the wheels are terrible and it's rolled up against a wall.
Green benchy from the Bambu Lab P1S, white benchy from the Prusa MINI+ w/5.1.0-alpha1 firmware... The green is definitely a better print.
I got the Prusa about two years ago because I wanted better quality prints that I was getting from my old printer. I care more about quality that speed...
I'll try a slower print and see if the new firmware has better quality.
So I just did a print of a part for work and on the Bambu Lab P1S it took about 30 minutes... On an Ender-3 S1 it takes 1 hour and 30 minutes. That's at "normal" speed on both machines.
We do have 6 Enders at work, so in theory they can still kick out twice as many in the same time but still... that's quite a time difference!
(And buying one P1S would still be cheaper than buying three Enders.)
