@poiseunderchaos What do you mean by 'polyglot leftist'? Do you mean literally a leftist who speaks many tongues, of do you mean figuratively a person who is prepared to accept and to campaign for any one of a spectrum of generally left platforms?
Because, if the latter, I'm with you. Personally my ideal is #AnarchoSyndicalism, but I'm prepared to accept anything between that and Clause IV #Socialism (and think that, given the realities of the world, Socialism would be easier to deliver).
Does anyone know good audiobooks of anarchistic literature? Preferrably for free as a stream or download. Was looking for Rudolf Rocker but any fundamental literature would suffice.
I have a lot of time to listen to podcasts and little time to read currently but want to dive more into anarchist theory.
Today in Labor History February 8, 1962: French National Police opened fire on a large demonstration in the Charonne massacre. Supporters of Algerian liberation and unionists were protesting the OAS, a right-wing paramilitary fighting against Algerian liberation fighters. 9 people died, all members of the CGT union. This came in the wake of the October, 1961 massacre, when French National Police, under orders from Nazi collaborator, Maurice Papon, opened fire on 30,000 supporters of Algerian independence. The French government acknowledged that they killed 50 people. However, some historians believe that 200-300 Algerians died. In 1998, the authorities convicted Papon of Crimes Against Humanity for his collaboration with the Vichy government. During the trial, they established that the 1961 massacre was deliberate.

Today in Labor History December 22, 1922: The International Congress of Revolutionary Syndicalists met in Berlin, leading to the founding of the International Workers Association (AIT/ IWA). The anti-authoritarian AIT served as an umbrella organization for numerous anarcho-syndicalist trade unions from 12 countries (FORA, USI, SAC, FAUD, CNT, etc.) with several million members at its height.
Today in Labor History August 22, 1978: The Sandinistas captured the Nicaraguan National Palace launching the Sandinista revolution. The red and black symbolism on the flags of the modern Sandinistas, as well as Sandino’s movement in the 1930s, came from the anarchosyndicalists. Sandino spent much of the 1920s working with Mexican anarchosyndicalists, including the IWW.
