I feel on edge. Maybe it’s the obscene amount of caffeine I’ve consumed. I’ve just got to finish making the dinner, then after we’ve eaten I’ll probably continue reading The Burgess Boys by Elizabeth Strout, which I am very much enjoying #AmReading#bookstodon
As I noted right here in this feed, this past Saturday was Towel Day. That inspired me to check out The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy from the library to re-read it for the first time since 2000. It still holds up! What a delightful classic.
Also worth noting: Douglas Adams basically described an e-reader device almost 30 years before Kindle came on the market.
Finished reading Paul Auster's '4 3 2 1' today. Now in a place where I'm kinda sad that I'm not in Ferguson's world any more, and don't really know what to read next.
If you’re a fan of #podcasts, there are over dozen of them dedicated to #JaneAusten and the Brontes. If I’m missing any, let me know so I can update the list!
I’ve been paying closer attention to when books were written. Pre-2016 (trump)? Pre-2020 (covid)? Different vibes for sure but I can’t quite put my finger on how to describe it yet. #amreading@bookstodon
Collect ARCs? Like debut YA horror that's fun and kind of Stranger Things-esque? Maybe go sign up for my monthly author newsletter at nicolewolverton.com -- because at the end of this month I'll be randomly choosing one lucky newsletter subscriber to receive this box (no pollen from yard included, I swear!).
Did you ever read a book or two in a long series and they were enjoyable so you’re hooked into the storyline and care about the characters.
But then, the stories get really irritating - this strange need for authors to torture their main characters over and over again is very troubling.
So I finished this series as a spite read. Fortunately the books were short. Compared to a lot of the books I usually read.
No I’m not naming authors. @bookstodon#amreading
The amazing 'Death's Lady' trilogy by @RachelNeumeier
is on a really good deal at Amazon - it's a brilliant, beautifully written read with superbly drawn characters and a super-strong female lead.
