I never found the Foundation books compelling, so I'm a bad judge of them compared to the books. I do wonder what people who really love them think about all the changes to the books, like right off the bat.

@virtualbri the books are interesting, but I never connected to any characters, both because of the way they are portrayed and because the structure of the narrative doesn't really give you the time needed to feel invested in them as people, beyond their roles as plot devices.

@blakmarkit Have you watched the show in comparison?

markvonwahlde,

@virtualbri The tone was definitely different. Asimov didn't do emotion that well and the show dripped with it.

@markvonwahlde hehe, understatement of the year :)

@virtualbri I originally tried reading them as a teenager. I found them ponderous. Over the years I've tried again quite a few times. They're still ponderous. I think Asimov basically wrote himself into a corner with those.

@lauren I agree one hundred percent.

To be clear, making not everyone white guys is a great change right off.
