Inching closer. Another ~70m to go and, maybe, #NASA will check to see if #Ingenuity is still functioning, by taking a couple of RTE images, and hopefully have it get a last glimpse of #Perseverance before it disappears below the horizon.
And, don't say the rover has turned its back on little #MarsHelicopter, even if it appears to be so in the image. For it has a duty, and a long mission still ahead. Say, hasta la vista lil'sis!

It is, and that's why we're still holding on to it. It has also provided lots of attention to what could otherwise be considered by the public a slow and boring mission.

Curiosity offers grounds for comparison, offering way more frequent and detailed status reports than Perseverance, and tons of excellent imagery processed by real pros, but gets rather little attention these days. The Mars2020 mission would have been a lot less visible had it not been for Ingenuity and the bulk of its creative followers, IMO.
As for the rest of us space aficionados, we would have probably payed attention to the mission no matter what.
