Someone invited me to a thing in June a long time ago. I said yes, but I’ve had to cancel because of work.
They’re mad. I’ve given them two months’ warning, and I’ve tried to explain that unlike someone who is self employed and has no employees (their situation), I have multiple people who rely on me for a living.
I’m trying to be a good friend, but I’m also trying to keep a company afloat and ensure people have jobs.
I’ve had to cancel in the past due to health or family stuff, and because of work. The thing I’ve had to cancel to attend is a one-time event my company must be at.
I feel like shit. They’ve basically said “we’re done”.
I get it. I’m a terrible person. But I don’t have the luxury of taking time off when my company is under constant attack from transphobes and homophobes.
