@jeffjarvis I know Alaska Airlines isn’t perfect, but we’ve had great luck with them. My wife returned early from a trip last Sunday, and they booked her on a flight leaving very soon after she called. But she was staying across the street from the airport. She missed the baggage cut off, so they wouldn’t take her on that flight. But they were able to find a flight for her at no additional cost about an hour later, and she got home three hours earlier than expected as a result.
@jeffjarvis on the flipside, I think the airlines are freaked out about the DoT. My older kid had a flight delayed by United last year on a college visit, and he got into a city where they couldn’t get him to his destination. No hotel would take him because he was under 21! He wound up taking a Lyft to his destination city (an hour away), which cost over $100. The person at the airport promised that United would reimburse him. United refused. I said I would be filing a complaint. They reimbursed
@jeffjarvis I wrote to them: you stranded my 18-year-old at an airport, could not accommodate him in a hotel, promised you would pay for the cab ride, and now you are claiming you have no responsibility, even though the flight delay that led this was your fault.
