“Unfortunately I don’t think the technology will dramatically change in the coming year to really drive down that cost”, says Ramanarayan Vasudevan, an associate professor of robotics and mechanical engineering at the University of Michigan.

I think we can be more optimistic about technology, especially in times of global conflict. Tech has become the enabler of warfare.

If only the US and other countries could either jumpstart similar projects (i.e., with price and mass production in mind) at home or collaborate — and if only the Chinese were more mindful of international trade agreements, etc. Could be win-win, but global politics suggests otherwise at present.
