I have two thoughts on Trump's sleeping during the trial.
Since he can't say anything or do any histrionics, he's doing it intentionally to show his disdain for the court and proceedings.
Like a shark who has to keep swimming to breathe, Trump can only stay awake if he's talking (bloviating) in front of an audience.
