We’ve been slowly working our way through “3 Body Problem” on Netflix and I finally had my suspension of belief fall out my ass with the episode “The Final Judgement”
Is it alien tech? Nope.
Is it the dimensional theory? Nope.
Was the bullshit* plan to get the data? Ding ding ding!

seriously, after rejecting a missile strike as “being too likely to destroy the data they want” they went with…this?

continued with spoilers next post…

*also gratuitously sadistic, brutal and murderous?

So basically, they ran an entire ship full of people through a cheese grater, and then picked out the hard drive from the wreckage.
Never mind that one of the main characters went along with it.

It murdered every single person on the ship in a rather horrific and sadistic manner.

And in a practical sense, they basically shredded an entire oil tanker and then found the data they were looking for.

Yes, sure, pull the other one it’s got bells on

@Wraithe Couldn't agree more. LOUSY storytelling.

@Lizette603_23 With a night to sit on it, It really feels like the Showrunners said “you know, we haven’t had a good massacre, let’s shoehorn one in.”

I kind of want to go look the book up just to see if this actually is in there because it’s just such a stupid idea from the start.

@Wraithe @Lizette603_23 It's literally taken directly from the book.

@angry_drunk @Lizette603_23 Yeah, my wife just looked that up. SMH.

“Ok instead of robbing the bank that’s too dangerous, we’ll collapse the skyscraper it’s in and get the set of china we want to steal out of the rubble!”

Yeah, that’ll work.

@Wraithe @Lizette603_23 So, here's the thing, 3 Body Problem is…not actually that great of a book.

@angry_drunk @Lizette603_23 I have, as yet, to read it and that scene did not bump it up on my list.
i’m trying to figure out if I would’ve slid that scene in a book, that maybe having it visually presented showed just how bad an idea it was.
I dunno.

My wife just mocked me for being upset about that, when I accept all the characters in “Fallout” somehow finding each other in the wasteland constantly.
And I’m like, “that’s a standard handwavium trope.” 😂
