@randahl@JamesGleick The man is a poorly-written cartoon villain and 30% of America is agog for this cretin. Maybe I’m a simpleton but I believe it’s all been enabled by R. Murdoch, Rush Limbaugh and others of their ilk which were enabled by the scuttling of the Fairness Doctrine. Thanks, Reagan! Likely more complex than that but I look around and cannot believe what I see. 😢
The dog-whistles that underlied nearly all of their propaganda dovetailing with the dog-whistles of GOP politicians played and continues to play a very big role.
This is why using race-class narrative based messaging is so important to our beating back this horror. It cuts through the decades of dog-whistles and builds solidarity across communities.
