dustinrue, 1 month ago @cablespaghetti standard update in this case. I ended up removing gdm3 and ubuntu-driver-common or ubuntu-drivers-common and reinstalling the two. I also reinstalled a few other items that got removed as dependencies. This resolved the issue.
