my centrist position is that after the revolution jobs still might pay but not in anything you can exchange for the means of survival, which are categorically gratis
remember sisko’s dad’s restaurant in new orleans? what would he charge people in? transporter credits? you have to accept that people serve their communities because they want to, much moreso than when they are forced to.
