@MLE_online our 2012 road trip ended up passing a place where the tracks of Oregon Trail wagons had worn their way through the rock and were still visible. At the bottom of each rut you could see that their wagon wheels were a handful of inches wide.
Having seen that and imagined how uncomfortable that ride must have been, i feel like your analogy may be better than you realize
