@paul I know - I attended UCSC my frshman year not long before this came out, and later traveled extensively to and finally lived in the Bay Area, until I departed for Aus in 2030. It’s a weird slice of nostalgia.

Ps I love that carousel, and its twin in SF. Wasn’t there another film where the bad guy dies impaled on a (non-existent) unicorn horn on the SC one? Maybe the Clint Eastwood thing filmed ~1983?
@deirdres Hah, that’s a good question! My wife went to UCSC in the late 80s/early 90s, and she remembers the guy dressed as a monk who briefly appears in the opening montage. I intend to visit the trestle where they filmed the “Michael just let go” scene.
