The website quoted by @jsit, https://rezmason.net/projects.html, says, James Franklin Hyde discovered and developed silicone. The lines are explained on p.15 of the original source, https://web06dev16.ufscar.br/pt-br/assets/arquivos/tabela-periodica/hyde-chemistry-1976-compressed.pdf, also quoted by Jay.
