I write a lot of notes in #Obsidian (@obsidian) where I mention fediverse handles in the @username@domain.tld format.
I always want to link it to their profile so I manually change it to @username@domain.tld (or whatever the form of url the software they are using is) I feel like there should be a simple way to solve this with an Obsidian plugin that resolves #WebFinger names or maybe some RegEx userscript macro would be easier? Anyone have a solution to my silly problem?
@liaizon@obsidian Why aren't you just putting "@user" in the Aliases YAML of their Person note? Then, on reference, you link to it like any other, [[@user]] and it'll probably offer to autocomplete before you're done.
@liaizon@obsidian You could use a keyboard macro/snippet tool (depending on your operating system) and use a shortcut to insert the proper text including the link from the clipboard.
Or you could switch to a more flexible and open solution like Org-mode where this can be solved via a simple custom link.
@publicvoit I am on macOS at the moment. I am quite happy with Obsidian (except for the License) so I am not ready to switch to anything else yet. I don't know RegEx to make a macro/snippet thing but I know it must be possible
@thibaultmol after I meet someone AFK or interact with them a lot I usually make a /people/Full Name.md document that then contains their handle. But then I still have to manually change the format of the fediverse handle
@douginamug@liaizon not yet, best thing you can do is bookmark it and check it later.
Or Actually: you could also use the remindme bot by replying to this post but making reply only visible to people mentioned, remove liaizon and add the remindme command https://mstdn.social/@remindme
