@jez arguing with copyright pedants in #WikimediaCommons is a battle you can't win. Fortunately, the plaques I'm interested in are government works and therefore free of #copyright per the national IP law. But I've liberally been using the following copyright template to tag photos of such plaques to preempt deletion discussions:

(I do grudgingly view the pedants as a "necessary evil". They help ensure that Commons media are as widely reusable as possible.)
