Does anyone know what Apple's software engineers are actually doing at work? Here's how you win a free "Force Quit" of System Preferences:

  1. in System Preferences/Accounts, open the Add Exchange Account dialog
  2. at the password-prompt, use Spotlight to open Sonoma Passwords to look up the passwords
  3. In Passwords, copy the password into the clipboard.
  4. Oh, the Exchange-dialog was a modal, go back to Internet Accounts.
  5. The Exchange dialog is gone, System Prefs locks up hard 1/n

@fm_volker my pet peeve is that system level modal dialogs are not accessible #a11y
You can’t use TAB to go through the buttons. It used to be, but since 2 years or so that changed. Example for that is e.g. file delete or move dialog in Finder. The buttons can only be clicked via mouse.

@root42 @fm_volker The setting may have moved. It should be called “use full keyboard access”. Stupidly off by default now.

@miclgael @fm_volker Oh that's really dumb. Why make it inaccessible via keyboard in those dialogs by default, but make buttons accessible by default in all other dialogs? That's total BS. I don't want to turn on full Accessibility just for this.
