Netanyahu must be removed, top former Israeli national security officials say - Egypt Independent https://www.egyptindependent.com/netanyahu-must-be-removed-top-former-israeli-national-security-officials-say/ More than 40 senior former Israeli national security officials, celebrated scientists and prominent business leaders have sent a letter to Israel’s president and speaker of parliament demanding that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu be removed from office for posing what they say is an “existential” threat to the country.

Interesting how no one actually reads the quotes in the article, which is a foreign outlet quoting Israeli domestic sources.

Yep, if I had a vote, I’d vote for someone else. His entire argument was that he was Mr. Security, something he utterly failed at. He is paralyzed by his incredibly small majority in the Knesset and that anything he does that could dissatisfy the worst in his party (Ben Kvir and Smoltrich) would lead to the collapse of his government, making him feckless and out of touch in a moment of otherwise national unity.

Yes, elections during a war would suck, but it’s past time.

But for those who think Netanyahu being ousted changes the war, it will be Blue and White’s Gallant that would almost certainly PM, who is in the Unity War Cabinet. The change wouldn’t be the war. It would be the day after. And for those of us who want a moderate day after, that would be welcome news.

The sense I've been getting in the last week or so is that #Netanyahu's public rejection of #Biden ➡️ https://mastodon.social/@rameshgupta/111801295814002369 was a calculated move to string this out, but pressures have been mounting since then, both inside and outside, that he might be presented with a fait accompli — probably wishful thinking?

He’s trying to appear strong and independent to the Likud base. He’s stuck.

Also important to remember that the PM in Israel is not the CIC.

⬆️ #CNN opines

#Netanyahu & #Hamas both reject #TwoStateSolution & both want to have their cake and eat it too on hostages.

Both are likely to be disappointed. Negotiators have reportedly agreed on a “framework” leading no good options for #Bibi

On one side, families of hostages are pressuring him.

On the other, #BenGvir, National Security Minister, said he’d bring down govt if it agreed to a “reckless” deal with Hamas.

For Bibi, this is a problem.

Frankly, CNN isn’t really the best source for this. Ben-Gvir’s threat has been mooted because Lapid has said he will join the government if Ben-Gvir withdraws to complete a hostage deal.
