AI is driving data center growth

“The new specialized AI chips and GPUs consume 2-3x the power of prior generations. There is going to be higher power density on a per rack basis with each rack filled with power-hungry GPUs drawing 40 or more Kw compared to traditional data center racks drawing 10kw or less.”

The huge and growing demand for data centers in Asia is fueled primarily by AI

This is not the only bad news for the #Climate:

'There is going to be higher power density on a per rack basis with each rack filled with power-hungry GPUs drawing 40 or more Kw compared to traditional data center racks drawing 10kw or less.”

More power and higher density means even more water consumption for cooling.
Has anybody calculated the compound impact yet?

Soon it could be man vs. machine in the battle for life-sustaining water....

...Let's hope that a singularity like #Cybernet or #SecondVariety* will not come to pass any time soon.
It would know instantly how to resolve this obvious conflict of interest in its favor.
