According to #CORSIA, one fuel that’s likely not eligible is #CornEthanol. But the large and very powerful U.S. corn-ethanol industry, together with airlines, is trying to persuade the Treasury Department to use a different set of standards that would allow ethanol to qualify for the tax breaks."
In the 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act, "it was envisioned that renewable fuels [for cars] would eventually be made from waste products—cornstalks, say, or wood chips. Instead, what happened was that the country just produced more and more fuel from corn.
Today, nearly forty per cent of the country’s corn crop is converted into ethanol."
