Are Trump's lawyers naturally terrible, or do the conditions of their job, probably getting yelled at for making reasonable suggestions... train them to be terrible since it's the only way they can keep the job?

If they aren't getting paid weekly... they aren't very bright.

I expect it's similar to a NFT or crypto reddit forum where there is a "no FUD" (Fear Uncertainty and Doubt) rule. Of course he'll win!

At a recent event he said that he "won all 50 states"

Yeah. And they all clapped.

@futurebird I still find it insane he straight up claimed to have "won all 50 states." I know he's full of a lot of BS and rhetoric, but this is straight up delusional. Is he just pushing such a claim as part of the process of trying to enact another coup or has he actually reached a point he actually believes it?

And all those people who clapped must surely know it's false, yet they too are so far in they just push that aside and accept it anyway...

@nazokiyoubinbou

I found that one disturbing too.
At least until recently he admitted that, at least in some states, he wasn't popular. (because those states are terrible places, of course)

But "won all 50 states" no one thinks that's true. It's embarrassing and childish to even say it. That's not bravado or confidence... it's baby tantrum stuff. I don't get how anyone can enjoy it.

flyhigh,

@futurebird @nazokiyoubinbou It is typical of sociopaths to speak like this. Grandiosity is a hallmark trait of SPs. This will never change. You cannot judge SPs in the usual ways as they cannot feel shame or remorse. They are a small percentage of the population, and this is why their behavior confuses many people who don't know what they are like.

Virginicus,

@futurebird @nazokiyoubinbou Agreeing with something that’s obviously false is how they build group cohesion.

Correct. It's not about being right, it's about being the right kind of person.

That's a false dichotomy. Both can be true.

@futurebird i think any good lawyer knows this guy is hopeless, the worst client you can imagine, he’ll sabotage you and make whatever pay he promise (and likely won’t deliver) not worth the amount of shit he’ll make you eat.

So i assume they are terrible as a starting point, but he’s probably making it worse anyway.

EverydayMoggie,

Probably some self-selection going on. What kind of lawyer would accept him as a client in the first place?

@futurebird
It's a rule in ecology that if two species compete for the same resource, one of them will go extinct. Thus species specify. If they can't get the best they settle for something worse and get by.

There is a lemur in Madagascar that's so small it had to settle for the worst food. An adult Golden Bamboo Lemur each day, eats 12x enough cyanide to kill any other animal of the same size. Science still doesn't know how it survives.

I assume Trump lawyers live in an analogous ecology.

@futurebird I think it's more who accepts this job. He has a short attention span, gets bored easily, doesn't follow advice, thinks he knows better and takes no responsibility, is abusive, oh and often doesn't pay his bill. This current case also looks open and shut. Thinking about that who would take the job? I can only think either you want lots of money up front or your there for the free media and exposure.

@stripey@meow.social avatar

@futurebird Kise insisted upon being paid his 3million up front, according to WaPo

dschwarz,
@dschwarz@toad.social avatar

@futurebird Kise demanded $3mil upfront to represent Trump. He’s the only smart one.

@futurebird I think he only hires people who talk and think like him, so they're incompetent bigots.
