OFC I don't expect those slots to be #ISA or something but something like the #OldNet or #Wifi232-alike #NIC should be possible...
I mean if I had the €€€€€ and skills I'd likely try to build one of those myself for the #CommanderX16, but even a simple #RS232 card that can interface with some "#FakeModem" - #Network adapter would be sufficient.
OFC they won't officially support #HDMI due to #licensing and #cost as well as the added complexity.
Personally, I would've scrapped the idea of making an HDMI-outputing "video card" to save costs and instead make a deal with some OEM to certify compatibility with an #VGA->HDMI dongle which gets powered by the PS/2 port and have it #CommanderX16 / #X16 branded...
Personally, I would've used a #NeoGeo#Controller output since the flat #DB15 connector is far slimmer than the #SNES controller port, but then that would've likely required some IC to see which buttons are pressed - putting negligible cost in the controller to higher cost on the mainboard, so yeah, that's understandable... https://youtu.be/nyByDNQuMMI?t=2119
