As is tradition for me, I get home from traveling and grab myself a California Burrito 🌯. No one makes these like we do in SoCal. Already looking forward to #phptek 2024. The big question now is, where?
@maxtappenden Nuh uh. Gotta plunk it down in a city with at least a semi-major airport (or two), given that it's a national conference where a decent chunk of attendees are supposed to fly in, along with most speakers.
Tek 2016 (St. Louis) and planned 2020 (Nashville) were borderline for this. San Diego would likewise be but for being more of a destination than the other two above. Chicago and Atlanta fit the bill here (as does Vegas, but meh on Vegas).
@maxtappenden Denver would be solid IMO, for similar reasons to Chicago being solid. Denver would skew things a bit more US-based as Chicago is a bit better as an intl gateway, but DEN's connectivity is plenty sufficient. And it's half the distance from where the organizers are based in SAN.
@maxtappenden Flip side is, if you're on a plane anyway the difference between a two hour flight and a four hour flight is less, I suppose.
I'm biased toward Denver because I have friends/family there and AUS-DEN > AUS-ORD for flight frequency. Right-next-to-ORD really is a solid place for a national conf.
