Opinions? I am looking for #newsletter platform recommendations! What do you use, what do you like (or dislike!). Mailchimp, constant contact, buttondown, … ?

Need:

<500 subscribers

~weekly emails

Ease of use is key, don’t need to be tech savvy

Embed multimedia

Low/no budget

Accessibility built in

Responsive design, without creator needing to know much (or anything) about that

kkarhan,

@cbdawson Ever heard of #RSS & #Atom ?

They are #accessible and they provide people with easy access to links with text they can just read and don't clog mailboxes!

@kkarhan Thanks, I know what RSS is and used to manually build and maintain RSS feeds. However, I am specifically looking for newsletter platforms, not newsletter alternatives.

For a broad non-tech audience, RSS is not a reasonable alternative to an email newsletter today, most people don’t currently use RSS readers.

kkarhan,

@cbdawson Personally, I'm just sick and tired of all the "#Newsletters" aka. #Spam #eMails I get that don't respect my decision to not contact me again that I do publicly shame them:

The same tech that can do #RSS / #Atom and forward to a website can also build actual Newsletters in many cases.

I just question the value of most "Newsletters" unless they are security notifications...

Just make a newspost and mail customers the link to it.

Saves traffic and bandwith.

@kkarhan You do you.

I subscribe to newsletters that I value, that serve a specific communications purpose and mode. I write newsletters that users tell me they value and that meet a need.

I just want to point out that I asked for recommendations on a specific technology platform … and your response is basically to pick arguments with me about my communications medium in general, which I did not ask for input on.

kkarhan,

@cbdawson Just make shure people do actively opt-in to avoid legal issues or ending up on some blocklist, because I know way too many people who got #NewsletterBombed...
