I’ve been using Sublime Text for almost a decade now and love it, but I started using vscode for pixelfed app development

I like the IDE and better autocomplete that vscode offers, but I can’t fathom switching php dev to it because I’m so stuck on Sublime and feel some form of attachment to it

It’s weird, I know, it’s probably cuz I’m getting older and stuck in my ways lol

@dansup I'm the same, vscode for big projects and sublime for smaller stuff. It's faster and less mental load, so if I don't need all the vscode extras

@dansup And if you don't like Microsoft, you can also use VS Codium. 😉

@alternativeto Omg I can't believe you responded to me!

I'll never forget the first time I seen my @pixelfed project be the top alternative to Instagram, thanks for your amazing service!!

(You should consider adding rel=me support so fediverse users can verify your account, more info @ https://joinmastodon.org/verification)

@dansup You're welcome, I've been loving Pixelfed, so thanks for your amazing work!

We've actually added the rel=me parameter to the Mastodon link in our website's footer, but it's not working/verifying… 😕

dansup,
@dansup@mastodon.social avatar

@alternativeto Oh I see, maybe remove the link from your bio and save, then re-add so Mastodon can re-fetch, it may have been cached.

I'll mention this to the Mastodon devs!

alternativeto,
@alternativeto@mas.to avatar

@dansup Thanks, I'll try that :)

arnav,

@alternativeto After you have added rel=me parameter in your website, remove the website link from your profile (save the changes) and add it there once again.

That's how it worked for me!

alternativeto,
@alternativeto@mas.to avatar

@arnav Thanks! That's what @dansup suggested, and I've just done it, so we'll see if it works.

dansup,
@dansup@mastodon.social avatar

@alternativeto @arnav Hey, so after speaking with a Mastodon developer, they said that when Mastodon tries to fetch the website, they get a 403 from Cloudflare.

My suggestion is to add a security WAF rule to cloudflare for the / path for user agents that contain mastodon to skip

alternativeto,
@alternativeto@mas.to avatar

@dansup Oh ok! Thank you for asking the Mastodon developers, and for this information! We'll definitely look into it asap.

dansup,
@dansup@mastodon.social avatar

@alternativeto No problem, happy to help!

Feel free to reach out if you still can't verify, I'll do my best to help you get this figured out 😁

rootfs,

@dansup I do love both - ST for it's speed and efficiency, and VSC for it's glutton of extensions.

Sometimes it's nice to mix things up a lil' bit

dansup,
@dansup@mastodon.social avatar

@rootfs Yeah for sure, I like the context switch personally

I sometimes have to jump between backend code (ST) and app code (VSC) and I find it easier to switch between these two apps rather than windows of the same app

@dansup I feel you there, though I switched to VSCode a while back. At least with many languages prioritizing language server support, we’re in a pretty great spot with editors :D

@dansup Honestly as long as you have language servers configured I find the experience pretty okay in both. I had a hard time letting go of Sublime too but I really like everything emacs can do :p
