There is something very powerful about a perspective that views all living things as members of our family.
Perhaps our awareness of our own flaws makes it acceptable to us to ignore the suffering of other humans, but it is not so easy to ignore the suffering of other creatures.
They did nothing to deserve what we are doing to them and their habitats.
Making the future of humanity not just about humans, but about the rest of our family, may well be the key to achieving some real long-term progress.
