Snapz,

This guy had so much positive momentum… And he turned into such a disappointment.

I watched you give interviews outside gas stations and I put your sticker on my car, dude. Fucking bummer. Really has to be the stroke with such a drastic personality change.

reddig33,

Haven’t we already had multiple national commissions about this subject? How about socialized mental health care for all instead?

jeffw,

Whoa now, what are you looking for, 2016 Fetterman?

TropicalDingdong,

Ahh the astroturf redemption campaign. Fuck this guy. Vote the liars out.

themeatbridge, (edited )

He’s not up for reelection this round, and nobody knows what you’re talking about. Go sell crazy someplace else, we’re all stocked up here.

Edit: My mistake. It seems like a lot of people have bought into the neoliberal smear campaign to blow one tweet out of proportion. Your downvotes aren’t going to affect who I vote for when he runs again, so unless you want to debate the issues, fuck off.

TropicalDingdong,

Any one paying one iota of attention to politics would know all about Fetterman.

Its kind of a thing.

themeatbridge,

He’s my senator, and I follow his career closely. It might be a thing you’ve imagined.

ShunkW,

So you’ve noticed how he campaigned on being a progressive and then immediately turned around and said he’s not one, right?

themeatbridge,

No, I actually followed his career and saw where he stood on issues. He’s the most progressive Senator Pennsylvania has had in a long time, even if he isn’t in lockstep with other progressives. I am not going to generalize his entire platform on one tweet.

He campaigned on his unwaivering support for Israel. It’s something I wish he would reevaluate, but he’s better than the shitbag Toomey he replaced, or fucking Mehmet Oz.

He campaigned on border security, and he campaigned on fracking. He’s from Pennsylvania. I’d like to see him evolve on some of those issues, but the man had to win an election in Pennsylvania. He didn’t lie about any of his positions. We knew who he was when we voted for him, and if he runs for reelection, we’ll vote for him again.

Unless, do you want to run? Come to Pennsylvania and run for Senate. Run on issues like fair wages, universal healthcare, equal rights, while also criticizing Israel for the genocide, calling for open borders, and opposing fracking. Let’s see how far you get in your campaign.

If you demand ideological purity from your elected officials, you’re asking to be lied to. Fetterman may not be a perfect politician, but he didn’t lie.

ShunkW,

He said he was a progressive. He’s not. Then he said he wasn’t. That’s a lie. Simple.

themeatbridge,

He is progressive on many issues, and is not on others. He was always transparent about where he stood on each of the issues. He was asked why he wasn’t with Bernie Sanders and other progressives on Israel, and he said “I’m not a progressive.”

ShunkW,

Yes. He said he’s not a progressive after saying multiple times he was in his campaign. That’s called a lie.

themeatbridge,

He said he was supporting progressive issues, and he was. He said he was more progressive than his primary challenger, and he was. He ran on issues like gay marriage, LGBTQ rights, progressive tax policies, healthcare, Congressional stock trading, business regulation, criminal justice reform, and legalizing marijuana. He hasn’t changed on those issues.

He also was upfront about his unwaivering support for Israel. He hasn’t changed on that issue. He had some questionable ideas about immigration reform, despite being married to an immigrant. He hasn’t changed on that issue. He supported fracking, which is a huge industry in Pennsylvania. He hasn’t changed on that issue.

The only thing that has changed is the label. He says he’s not a progressive, meaning he doesn’t vote with the progressive bloc. He supported Sanders in the primary against Biden, but he was never a member of The Squad. He still holds progressive ideology on most issues.

Can you point to a single issue where he’s changed his stance? Besides using the word “progressive,” can you point to a single issue he ran on during the campaign where now he’s changed his mind?

I live in Pennsylvania. I’ve followed his career for a lot longer than you. I know what he’s said, what he promised, and where he’s failed. I would like John Fetterman to change his mind on any number of positions, but he hasn’t. I would like him to break a few promises, especially those made to the natural gas industry, but he hasn’t.

If you think he’s wrong, you might be right. If you think he’s an asshole, he might agree with you. If you think his health is a serious concern, I agree. If you think he’s a liar, you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.

ShunkW,

Read the first fucking line you imbecile

www.cnn.com/2023/12/22/politics/…/index.html

themeatbridge,

So you admit I’m right?

ShunkW,

No. He lied. I proved it. Fucking hell you’re really trying hard for a man who couldn’t give less of a shit about you

themeatbridge,

No, you didn’t, and you didn’t even read your own source which backs up what I said.

ShunkW,

After calling himself a progressive Democrat for several years, Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania is renouncing that label, as he has come under attack from the left wing of his party in recent months.

Ok.

themeatbridge,

Which contradicts what I said how?

beardown,

Genuine question: do you have autism?

Wrench,

Another Progressive that did not live up to Progressive’s standards.

They sure do like putting people on pedestals just to see them fall off.

themeatbridge,

See, this feels like a conservative smear campaign to knock him off a pedestal. Fetterman was clear on where he stood on every issue. I’ve written him a few letters asking him to reevaluate his positions, but it’s not because I felt like he changed his position. I would like him to be more progressive than he is, but his far more progressive than Toomey, Oz, or even Bob Casey.

If someone put their hope in Fetterman to criticize Israel or to ban fracking, they weren’t paying attention.

Wrench,

IMO, this illustrates exactly why it’s pointless to chase the Progressive vote.

You will never win over the Genocide Joe, both sides vote. If Biden suddenly met the protestors demands about stopping aid, those same “never vote for genocide” people would just move the goalposts. The arguments would be “well, he supported genocide once, he’ll do it again after the election”, or move on to something like Trans rights, something something Haiti, or whatever the next talking point gets propped up.

These are people you will never win over because they are actively looking for reasons not to vote for either party. And the far right / foreign psyops have fully infiltrated them and lead them around on to the next divisive crusade.
