The distinctive tower of the former Strathbungo Parish Church rising above the surrounding buildings on the Southside of Glasgow. Built in 1886, it was designed by J. MacKissack in a mix of Romanesque and Gothic styles.

@thisismyglasgow Reminds me of the one in Newcastle. Wonder how many of that style in the UK.

@JeffMorgan I guess crown spires are relativley common on gothic revival style churches from the 1800s, but (and I may well be wrong here), I'd always considered the original ones, like St Giles in Edinburgh which dates from 1495 to be a more Scottish thing, but the one on Newcastle Cathedral predates it by almost 50 years.
