Hi! Do you do #gamedev in #rustlang (#bevy or not) and have cool gameplay footage to show off?
I've gotten a request from the #RustNL organizers for clips to roll between talks! This seems like a fun idea, so I'm putting out a call for short, appealing gameplay clips with some form of credits on them. Get them to me (maybe post them as a reply?) within the next 24-48 hours and I'll get them to the organizers.
@alice_i_cecile We use #RustLang under the hood for a lot of our stuff in #CraftCraft! You can use our Steam trailer if you'd like. I can maybe get the video file for you if you'd like :)
@bram I'd love to hear more about your stack, and why you chose Rust. This looks really polished and solid, and it's lovely to see things of this quality in the space.
@alice_i_cecile We use it to parse and run our exports for Articy (https://www.articy.com/en/), but since there was no #GodotEngine support at the time when we started, I wrote it in Rust, so that I didn't have to worry about runtime problems, since compiling gave a lot of security for free ✨
Recently we've been using #RustLang as a way to guarantee safe relationships between items when a player crafts or disassembles an item. Keeping track of this in #GDScript would've been very error prone :)
I feel that veloren, one of the largest open source games written in Rust, should not miss out. But we didn't make a new trailer for our last release, so I can either offer the one year old 0.15 trailer (no gameplay but amazing visuals) at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weIK41W3tX0 (101s) or a very recent dungeon explainer at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDKZ2-Nl3fg (10min)
I can also cut this walk through into fewer minutes with some original music from the game? How long should the clip become?
@christofp Yep, Veloren immediately came to mind! I grabbed the 0.15 trailer from AngelOnFira already, but if you'd like to make something nicer I'd be happy to update my suggestion. I'd aim for 30 seconds to 2 minutes, and be sure to have a logo or other information in the corner.
I think we went a "bit" beyond 2 minutes (2:36) but the result is so nice and shows the playful multiplayer aspect of the game nicely. [And it shows off particles, monsters, gliding, mirror shaders, dungeons and playing instruments in front of taverns]
@alice_i_cecile hi I have trailer for my game, but it's turn based so I do not think it's there is too much action there. It's rather statuc. Anyways if you do not find something more suitable I can overlay some credit info later today :)
@alice_i_cecile thaks, I've added some info and put it on wetransfer (since it seems that files are preferred). If any other delivery option is better let me know - it's only 16mb so even email is possible :)
