Finished Book 1 (a third) of #Dune by Frank Herbert and it is really good so far, I actually feel that watching the movie helps quite a bit to understand some things, they compliment each other well so far.
And I use #Koreader instead of the default interface because of the better stats and I don't need to use the specific kepub format (also better support for CBZ files
The first book is one of the best things I've ever read. The second and the third one not so much. The tone of the story shifts a lot from politics and intrigues to prophecies and religion.
@joel I had a completely different experience, TBH; I feel like the movie took down the characterization a couple of notches by leaving out details. It felt like a "highlights reel" of the book, to a point where I question the choice to turn it into a film series instead of a show.
@mohab I mean. Because it was like a highlight reels is that I can appreciate the book quite a bit. I barely feel like I was spoiled on things, and the main plot twist of the movie is known from chapter 1 in the book and that's also awesome.
In Ender's Game for example, it was really annoying for me to know the ending before I even started reading and have the book all mysterious and intrigue but, already spoiled :/
