Aside from social media divides, there is a HUGE divide in tech I'm seeing now - pro-AI (LLM) and anti-AI/LLM. People saying it's making awful code and causing other issues, and then the companies raving about adding it to things and demonstrations of what it can do. I seriously saw one after the other a couple times today 😬🤣

It's wild out there, man

#AI #LLMs #ArtificialIntelligence

@jake4480 it smells bad that the same people are hyping it up simply because it gives new purpose to the hardware they bought for crypto mining.

Also resent that it's being called "AI" when we're really just looking at bulls*** generators that have been trained on big enough datasets to be able to spit out some convincing stuff.

I also fully expect companies to use this in the most socially-damaging ways possible, in naive attempts to increase profit margins (likely by replacing human workers)

faylen,

@jake4480 Everyone's an Einstein? Hehehe. I was trying to catch our exec's presentation before another meeting. Wasn't able to, but thankfully it'll be recorded. What I did catch was the everyone's an einstein thing several times. I had a similar thought, people seem to love the idea or hate it.

@faylen exactly. 🤣 saw a couple demos, the guy taking zip codes from a block of addresses with just a simple command- that I liked.

faylen,

@jake4480 Definitely. Used correctly it's a really cool concept. The issues I've seen are people either imagine the worst scenario, or they are asking the AI to do things it's just not up to doing right. It's great for things like giving it a paragraph and asking it to reword it more professionally or whatever. Then you go back over it and make adjustments. We've used chat gpt to help us understand a really complex formula someone else created but didn't document, but double checked it.

@faylen right! Things like https://goblin.tools are huge - being able to rewrite things in a more or less formal way, or to help out neurodivergent folks. It does wild things. But not for having it code for you. Does not end up well.

faylen,

@jake4480 Hahahaha exactly. I've asked it salesforce questions before just out of pure curiosity and there's always at least one incorrect part of what it comes up with.

@faylen 🤣🤣 I can imagine - Salesforce things can be so intricate and involved - often much more than what something outside of it could help with. Einstein looks more interesting than I originally thought. Was glad to catch those little snippets today. People ACTUALLY working in it to show what it can do instead of just going on and on about trust 🙄😂

@faylen seeing the segment on Mike now- they're playing the video that was posted before - and they talked to him a bit too. The comments in chat were very sweet, people were touched. Called him inspirational

faylen,

@jake4480 oOoo, do you have a recording link? It hasn't come across in work email yet. The original video I've seen but not yesterday's presentation

jake4480,
@jake4480@c.im avatar

@faylen no, I don't - the bit was from today! I'm still looking for that cool presentation I saw yesterday too, should've written down the guy's name. Hope they put these all up somewhere eventually..

faylen,

@jake4480 Oh! You're talking about the panel today, gotcha. That makes more sense. hehe.

faylen,

@jake4480 Just because I'm curious and can't remember, do you work as a consultant freelance? Or are you with a company?

jake4480,
@jake4480@c.im avatar

@faylen I'm with a company but mostly a user at this point- in talks with the Salesforce department to move over, though- working on some certs haha

faylen,

@jake4480 Oh oh, very nice! I'm sure you probably already know about it but focus on force is an amazing practice test tool. Used it a lot after training to prepare for my admin cert.

jake4480,
@jake4480@c.im avatar

@faylen oh really! Gonna check that out-- I've heard of it but have been using mostly Trailhead and the one on there, as I heard not to stray too far from it- but thank you! Will definitely use that one, I need all the help I can get haha

faylen,

@jake4480 Haha, so a few things about that. The official salesforce practice test uses old questions. It's a good get to know the format tool, but not super great for seeing how you'd do on the real thing, and it's not really intended to do that as all of their warnings tell you. lol! Focus on force, if nothing else, over prepares you. They have nice little blurbs explaining the answers after, and have practice exams for most certs. My goal is app builder next so I have that package.

jake4480,
@jake4480@c.im avatar

@faylen that is REALLY good to know wow

faylen,

@jake4480 There's other ones out there too, some free, some not. I know focus on force as it's very accessible, well at least the exams are, and just kind of stuck with what I knew worked. The main thing is to stay away from any site that talks about exam dumps.. Bad news on a lot of levels.

@jake4480@c.im avatar

@faylen this is all such good info, thank you so much- it's great to hear about one of the other sites that clearly led you to success.

faylen,

@jake4480 You're very welcome! Happy to talk Salesforce any time, hehe.
