Despite stating that an #SNP pro-independence win in the 2021 Holyrood election would give Scots a democratic mandate to hold #indyref2 Starmer subsequently swivelled, stating that in effect he would block another #ScottishIndependence referendum "forever".

@MadeyeTheCarnaptious @MacNaBracha I watched something today in which an analyst predicted Starmer, should he continue with his stance, will be the most hated man in the U.K. within his first year in power. Brought a smile to my face.

Starmer will win not because he's offering radical beneficial sustained change but because he's the only alternative to the Tories in England. That's how the "precious union" works.

Starmer will win the forthcoming GE because he has convinced Tory voters that he's a safe pair of hands to carry the centre-right flame. Labour voters will be holding their noses in the hope that he's a sheep in wolf's clothing.
