When I came to the country at the end of the 1980s, there were still wild rubbish #dumps burning in the countryside. Later, people laughed about #wasteSeparation in neighbouring Germany. In the meantime, we have overtaken them. In terms of packaging laws. In large supermarkets, we conveniently
@NatureMC Many years ago, when recycling bins were first being introduced by councils in the UK, I was commissioned to make an animation that had dancing wheelie bins with googly eyes singing about what rubbish needed to go in each of them. They were being shown in schools to teach the children where different rubbish went!
@earthworm@NatureMC Aww, it's a bit too old for that I'm afraid ☹️ It was a very old Flash thing, full of bits of code that were clever at the time, but make it fall over if you try and do anything with it now.
@NatureMC Hehe, thank you 😊 It was a really fun wee job, the only frustrating thing about it was that it was across a number of different councils and they all used different coloured bins for different things.
The lack of consistency across geographical area is still something that annoys me; if you visit friends & family, or do a self catering holiday, you have no idea where things go. Adds so much friction into the process. 🤦♀️
@NatureMC I think it's a really valuable thing to work towards. Here you turn up in a different council area and there's frequently nothing on the bins to tell you what they're for, it's quite frustrating.
