stops being silent

This weeks photos were all from Northumberland in the north east of England.

1: Alnwick Castle with its field of daffodils

2: Bamburgh Castle on the coast

3: The beach at Bamburgh

4. The white stag of Bamburgh

Thought I'd better stop there but might revisit the location as I found it difficult which to choose.

FWIW both Alnwick & Bamburgh castles still belong to individual families which I have something resembling issues with, but they are quite splendid.

I hadn't realised it had been a filming location. Funnily enough the earlier photo from Alnwick was another film location too, as it was used for Hogwarts.

It's a lovely looking castle but the current one wasn't actually used in The Last Kingdom. They used a set that was pretending to be Bamburgh fort from around 700 CE. The entire series was filmed in Hungary, apparently! 😄

Is the current castle open to the public? Agree with you on the fact it's privately owned 😑😕

@grb090423 @sollat Ahh, OK. Yeah, it's open to the public, and has been nicely done, but the whole thing makes me a little uncomfortable.

Edit: of the things that should be in public ownership I would put more essential services first, but our history should be in there...
