Been actually properly watching GaoGaiGar while doing exercise bike cardio lately and I fucking love this show, you’ll have the Leader and the Science Guy discussing this astounding new weapon that may be too powerful for GaoGaiGar to wield without great peril and it’s literally a mecha-scale squeaky hammer.
@DrakkenZero@teknomagic I've seen Final, but it was so long ago that it was a fansub that me and @DinosaurRobo rented from an anime place in the mall that rented bootlegs (on VHS!), so I am excited to see it again on Blu-ray once I finish the series.
@trixter@DrakkenZero@teknomagic I think that was the extremely sketchy Pandora’s Cube in College Park. They recently got demolished.
I found that Final makes a lot more sense when it’s the 2020s and there are fan wikis. It turns out that Guy’s edgy cousin who’d never been mentioned before is from a manga. Where she hung out with this guy? And he’s awesome? https://gaogaigar.fandom.com/wiki/Porc-Auto
@DinosaurRobo@DrakkenZero@teknomagic There are a lot of ways in which the internet was a mistake, but fans providing context for random 90s anime is a big argument in its favor.
@trixter@DinosaurRobo@teknomagic It was either a manga or an audio only adventure. It's also where the girl symmetrical docking robots came from. They were all part of the GGG France unit that was investigating some sort of international criminal syndicate which is what they're investigating at the start of final
@DrakkenZero@trixter@teknomagic This should have been a trope. I can’t think of a single mecha anime that wouldn’t be improved by someone wielding a giant squeaky hammer.
@mighty_orbot@trixter@teknomagic Also, fun fact, in the GaoGaiGar video game Goldymarg gets used by King J-Der causing it to turn into Silverion Hammer due to the interaction between J and G stones
