Sometimes despite how much you enjoy a subject your brain for some reason cannot math out how to get those concepts out of your head and into the world at large....
If I enjoy, I comment. Otherwise I quietly leave. However, I do comment for different reasons. A story that has me think tends to get longer comments out of me, because I'm busy working myself through the plot/my emotions/something....
I write super long comments when there's things yet to happen, and feel the need to speculate about them. I want to predict what's going to happen next.
Both, at times. Sometimes I only have a little downtime before going to do something important, and can't invest the time for something super long, but do have time for a quick oneshot. Other times, I want something long so I can, in a socially acceptable way, hibernate in the back room so as to avoid that relative during holiday gatherings, for example.
When writing, I use exactly as many words as I need to in order to explore whatever thought which gave rise to the work. Sometimes it takes a few words to convey the message, sometimes it takes a lot of words.
I chisel my fics into concrete slabs and bury them in random spots all around the country. I want the archeologists in the next millennium to be very confused.
Usually LibreOffice. It used to be MS Word, but someone at Microsoft got greedy and I'm not doing a pay for subscription service for an office suite.
If the pencil can't be used to defend one's self from a puma, what good is it? That's actually why pencils were first invented, as weapons rather than writing utensils.
I was sorting by tag, reading fandom blind, and clicked on a Danny Phantom oneshot. It was good, so I looked at the author's profile and found a good novel-length fic. That prompted me to look at the phandom a a whole.
Holyshit it was a goldmine, and I was promptly mauled by a horde of plotbunnies.
spez can fuck himself. If he was on fire, I wouldn't piss on him to extinguish the flames because it's not fair to make the urine exist in proximity to that miserable fucking waste of oxygen.
One of my favorite tricks when I have been staring at a passage I'm not happy with for too long is to open a separate word document and then trying to capture the idea without limiting myself to just the small string of words I initially set down....
A writer's block is most easily destroyed by a diamond pickaxe.
Going for a walk to make myself kinda idly ponder it helps a lot. When The idea shows up, you'll know. Also bring the means to write down at least notes on the breakthrough because forgetting it sucks.
Fanfic Summaries
I was pondering this earlier in the week. People have summaries they like and ones they will scroll past without considering the story at all....
What are you reading this weekend? 7/14?
