As someone with dysphoria and dysmorphia, the idea of becoming a vampire is extra appealing. I'm already pale. Not being able to see myself in the mirror? Bonus! And I'm scared of crosses for entirely vampire-unrelated reasons. Garlic would be a sacrifice though.

@YouShallNotPass oh gosh, that was nearly 30 years ago… it wasn’t a musical. the only thing i remember was me and my best friend building a revolving bookcase into the set. i was so afraid it was gonna fall over during the show.

sometimes i acted, but i liked doing the behind the scenes stuff more. i think my friend still does that kind of stuff for a living

People who design APIs. I am begging you. It doesn't matter how "simple" or "intuitive" or "elegant" your API is. You need to include sample code.

@mcc In fact, you should be writing the sample code as part of designing your API, so you can see how easy it is to understand and explain the primary use cases.

Logic Pro is still resetting my audio interface every minute or two. The logs show various bluetooth devices doing things, even though bluetooth is off. There’s also various audio subsystem logs that give no results when I search for them. I guess the next step is to try it with a different interface and see if it does the same thing.

@wren it’s a behringer Q802USB, and i don’t think it’s possible to update the firmware. 🤔

i’ve been using it for years with no issues in windows and macos. it seems like something broke when i upgraded to sonoma

@wren You rock! Hooking the mixer directly to the machine instead of going through a usb hub and a switch seems to have fixed it.

That’s annoying as hell, but at least it works. Thanks for the suggestion!

Ugh, I upgraded to macOS Sonoma, and now when I’m trying to record audio in Logic Pro, it randomly resets the audio interface every few minutes, putting nasty garbage in the recording. I have no idea what it’s doing. That new microphone icon in the menubar flickers when it happens.

I don’t really want to learn a new DAW, but Logic is now the only thing I use macOS for. If I can’t fix it, maybe I’ll make the jump to FL Studio.

I know a lot of folks are pessimistic about the future of AI, but not me. I think 10 years from now, AI will be able to generate wrong answers at least a thousand times faster than today.

@tschundler I tried BeOS development in 1998, but I wasn’t ready to write multithreaded C++ that wouldn’t crash constantly.

Now, with decades of experience, I’m sure I could handle it, were it still around.

I did love using the BeOS Terminal though.
