What's ahead for ?

โ€ข At least 70km of drive until 2028,
โ€ข 6 possible landing sites for the Sample Return Lander ()
โ€ข A full cache of 33 samples

Those and much much more, regarding the reality and expectations of both the and missions in the Independent Review's Mars Sample Return Report. Get it here:

Looks like #Perseverance moved about 13m SSW to have a closer look at those rocks. The white path in the map is guessed.

Trumpโ€™s federal criminal trial for efforts to overturn the 2020 election has been scheduled by Judge Chutkan for March 4, 2024.

This is tremendously important for our democracy.

I have to admit something.

My motivations for fighting & occasionally sounding the alarm on are largely selfish.

I don't want to suffer. I don't want my family to suffer. I don't want my friends with targets on their backs to suffer and die.

Assuming that we can stop all of that from happening, I'd like to retire in . I can't do that if the are in territory, which brings me back to being selfish.

You know what I also like, that inspired this post? The :blobcatjustright:

We don't know when #Perseverance will come again close enough to #Ingenuity to capture images and video of such quality, so, here is #Flight54 in all its glory, in real time fps.

Wait! What was that?!

During #Flight48, #Ingenuity caught a glimpse of the reflection of the sun on its shiny thermal skin projected on the ground, together with its shadow on the opposite side of the image.

Animation.

The Scanning Habitable Environments with Raman & Luminescence for Organics & Chemicals, or SHERLOC, helps scientists decide whether a sample is worth collecting.

The image below was captured by WATSON, a friend of SHERLOC's ๐Ÿ™‚ . Here are today's article by #NASA about SHERLOC and WATSON, and a detailed paper about what organics they see on Mars, published a week ago in Nature:

spotted a piece of debris probably from the , the piece of machinery that put it safely on the Martian ground. Debris has been spotted elsewhere, but this piece may be the farthest yet, about 4.6km away.

The map shows the current location of the rover and the location of the Sky Crane crash.

Possibly earlier EDL fragments?
Looks like it made a little trail before landing there... can we infer that direction?
