Achievement unlocked! This is Miss I-Can-Ride-In-The-Backseat-Of-The-Car-All-By-Myself. 😆 You can’t see it in the photo, but her harness is clipped into a seatbelt. I’m considering getting her one of those dog booster seats because she always wants to look out the window…but we’ll see how it goes.

Rigby got a bath today. She absolutely enjoys it - she doesn’t fuss or cry or try to get away or anything. Since the bath earlier, I’ve found her in the bathroom several times just peering into the tub. I guess she’s looking forward to her next bath. 😂

My pup is 10 weeks old today. 🥳 Here’s a fun look at how she’s changed at 10, 8, 6, and 4 weeks old.

At this point, our best guess is she’s (mostly) a Podengo Português.

Today we finally took a walk all the way down to the beach to check it out. It’s called Praia de Santo António. It’s 2 km (~1.3 miles) from our doorstep.

Our best way to reach the beach on foot is a trail through the pine forest called Caminho dos Três Pauzinhos. It’s a delightful walk. I understand that there are a lot of chameleons around…so I’ll need to be on the lookout next time.

It’s closed now, but there’s a cafe and umbrella/chair rentals during the season.

VRSA isn’t really known for its beaches—which is great because it means the tourist season here isn’t as crazy as other towns in the Algarve (so I’m told).

Hellooooo Portugal!

This is the view from our apartment in Vila Real de Santo António in the Algarve. We got the keys today & met the owners of the apartment, who are just about the nicest people you could ever meet.

Am feeling a tad overwhelmed at the change…but that’s ok. I know it’s gonna be great.

Need another day or two to finish getting over jet lag, then we’ll meet the expats group from this area.

It’s official! My husband and I are moving to Portugal this fall. One more big adventure in life.

We just got back from a scouting trip in the Algarve. We’ll end up in Faro, Tavira, Olhão, or Loulé initially depending on the apartment we find. The plan is to rent an amazing apartment for October-March, which is the off-season for the area, while we get acclimated and decide where we really want to be.

There’s much to learn and experience, which I’m looking forward to a lot. And lemme tell ya…learning European Portuguese (which is different from Brazilian Portuguese) is a truly humbling experience.
