Is it wrong of me to really miss the old times, when PCs were simpler, not everything was a web-app, and developers actually cared about writing performant systems :)

This was a walk in the park compared with the previous one, fun little problem, managed to get short work out of it using some sets, and some simple iterators.

Faen ta NRK og deres syn på podkaster, jeg trodde NRK skulle være et gode for folket, og ikke noe som de skal horde for seg selv inne i sin egen app, og hvorfor? De har alltid hatt åpne RSS strømmer med programmene sine i, det er ikke som om det er noe de ikke kjenner til.. Jeg skjønner det ikke, og de gangene jeg diskuterte med "kundesørviss" sa de bare at det er sånn det er, og det er ikke noe de vil endre.

@benjaminhollon @RL_Dane @fbievan it's coming along, I haven't looked a lot at it, but I think they are still working on cleaning it up :) so it's cleaner than when it was vim.

I have been really liking it, though for how I use it I could probably cust use standard vim :)

@osdotsystem Yeah, I did, didn't really like it much, it's more about making you feel like you are learning something than making you actually learn in my opinion, I'm kind of old-school that way, liking to learn from books and using the langauge, I think @RL_Dane has a bit more positive view on it though, if you want an a bit more neuanced view on it rather than just the thoughts of this naysayer.

Well, it seems like slowly mastodon is caving in to the demands of the newcomers, and principals that were chosen away especially to make it a better place with better mental health are getting implemented, This only strengthens my excitement about goToSocial, it's already great, and it's not even out of alpha yet.

    Goodmorning lovely #fediverse friends. After having had my morning coffee and a few client calls I finally have time to say 2 things about last nights discussion on multilingualism:

    1. why I personally don't see an issue with an English speaking server, but understand why it's important for others
    2. more importantly, that this discussion highlights the need for a community governance initiative

    I'm typing this out while at work so toots might take a while.

    @doctormo @Gina Weeell, their mods aren't quite the saints either, they have done many very questionable decisions.. I got booted because one of the mods there didn't like me for example, I'm appearantly a "difficult person" and calling JK Rowling a TERF or not being referential to religion is appearantly a reason to get banned.

    @bkhl @Jeremiah @Gina I've been living in Austria for ~9 years now, one of the first things I did was to learn German, it's not easy, but I mean it's the least thing I can do living and working here. Most people at work can speak English, but I mean, why should I make everyone's day a bit harder?

    Should I distro hop my work (!) machine to Tumbleweed (and fight with its lack of polkit setup and "hurr durr durr just use the root password" attitude),

    My login (selecting Plasma Wayland session) dumps me into an Xorg screen with 3 xterms. I then have to 'sudo systemctl restart sddm' and log in again...etc..

    @Qper @RL_Dane well, having to have a login manager isn't really simple is it? when I boot my pc, I just log in to the terminal and then start x :p

    @Qper @RL_Dane at least I can use different tools for the different ones, if I have set up picom I can use that config for all the other ones, xbanish can work the same for all of them, or my settings for shxkd can be used for others.

    After having had to do some things in a "normal" editor again today I really appreciate how wonderful #vim is to work with, going back to working in vim it feels like the editor can read my mind :D

    I really like named tuples, there are few places where an object actually makes more sense than a named tuple, and you can construct or deconstruct it really easily, or use named fields to retrieve the information in it.

    For #nim this is even more the case since it's tagged unions are quite annoying in that you aren't allowed to have to variants use the same field, but if you use the name of its kind and the variable as a tuple with the information you can.

    Teams, in addition to being a piece of shit software, is confusing, it's supposed to be this thing for professional people having professional conversations... and has gif reactions :p
