I remember the old days of the internet, where people would go on forums and discuss different topics.

Today, everything is self promotion for garbage products or stating your political agenda 😩

I asked the same question on Twitter, and the replies varied drastically. 50% if the reminders have 7+ subscriptions, while nobody answered “0”.

I wonder why it’s so different. One assumption is that Twitter is Americanized, and Americans seems to like paying for needless stuff.

If you have an idea why, feel free to free to share.

I’m loosing faith in entrepreneurship, and I’m one step away from proclaiming luck as being the only factor that predicts success.

Yeah, some days are tough 😞

Here is a controversial thought:

Nobody knows what they are doing. We are all just poking in the dark, trying to find something that works somehow.

And when that happens, we go back and attempt to provide logical explanations to our success.

As some of you know, I can call myself a self-published author.

In my latest blog post, I outline the tools and process I used to write my two books.

Anyone has recommendation for free, or very cheap CDN hosting which has programmatic access to upload assets?

Thanks 🙏

Anyone got tips on how to improve rust build time in gitlab ci?

Ideally I would like to cache the compiled code between rebuilds, but not sure how to do that.

I’m sorry, but I think HTMX is just gross.

A worthwhile experiment, absolutely, but I can’t see myself ever using this for a serious production application. I hope we keep iterating on this before settling for a non-turing complete, directive-driven language that gives Angular 1.0 PTSD flashbacks

@keithjgrant Joining other commenters. You combine htmx and hyperscript. I’m not a fan of hyperscript, but I enjoy htmx.

It’s a breath of fresh air after all bloated frontend frameworks

So… I’ve been working on https://remoteornot.fyi from the morning, here’s the progress:

  • merged contributions from the community
  • slight redesign, and added a section for feedback as well as employers form
  • added 5 more companies

How’s your day going?

I remember the days when I SFTPed to a server and copied my code over.

Today, you need a deploy pipeline that runs in kubernetes, on top of AWS, and you can’t even ssh to the machine to read the logs.

I think it’s called accidental complexity.

People who complain about Tailwind. I dare you to show me how you handle responsive design and dark mode.

Tailwind is not just fancy class names for css styles.

skwee357,

@css @mattwilcox @keithjgrant You don’t always have to update to latest major. You can be just “stuck” with a previous version.

skwee357,
@skwee357@mstdn.social avatar

@css @mattwilcox @keithjgrant I have a flight to catch and I’m tired of this discussion.

I’ll leave you with this: I checked @keithjgrant website, and was impressed in the new features css has to offer. I’ll consider using raw css for one of my simpler websites.

Thanks for the interesting discussion!
