For those in #Wales who are curious about the pay level of Junior Doctors at £13.65 per hour.

As a Hospital Porter I earn £11.63 per hour. From April the National Minimum Wage will be £11.44 per hour.

Junior Doctors are medically trained and generally very experienced.

At our hospital Porters do a huge variety of different tasks and jobs which require some experience, but clearly not at the level of Doctor

🤨🤦‍♂️

If you've not watched the Cornetto Trilogy Movies then, unfortunately, I do have to tell you that you've missed out on some of the finest cinema ever produced, or frankly is ever likely to be.

The good news is that you now know they exist and have a once in a lifetime opportunity to find out how amazing a body of work they truly are 🙂

How fucking lucky are you! 😀👍

Available on Amazon Prime UK (sadly not free) and other fine audio visual entertainment platforms.

They are probably on BitTorrent, I've not checked to be honest, but sometimes you do have to pay for quality.

Did you also use the Kermit file transfer protocol at any time during the 1980's and 90's? 🙂🐸

Sabine is now worried about Climate Change. The forecast models are worse that many people suspect.

I was suspecting +5C anyway and that seems to be about right.

@simonzerafa Do you know the Mosquito Alert app? They have recognition of species: first, an AI algorithm trained with the images they collected over the years will do an estimation, and then a group of experts will review it.

Here is a musical interlude for anyone who really wants an ear worm stuck on repeat in their heads for a few days.

People in the UK might recognise this track as it's currently used in a widespread TV advertising campaign 😀

On the 80th anniversary If you are interested in learning about Colossus and how it was used to decode Lorenz SZ40 encrypted traffic during WWII.

Some elements of the design are fascinating and predate much later design of computers for speed and ingenuity.

The following is a talk by Chris Shore at the Centre for Computing History which gives the story and operation of Colossus in some detail 😀

The rebuild of Colossus is on display at The National Museum of Computing at Bletchley and is well with a visit.

Climate sensitivity is a number that roughly speaking tells us how fast climate change will get worse.

A few years ago, after various software improvements, a bunch of climate models began having a much higher climate sensitivity.

Climate scientists have come up with reasons for why to ignore this. They were probably wrong to do so 🤔

If you are prone to depression when reading less than hopeful new information then you might want to skip this one.

It seems that the Intel 4004 wasn't the first microprocessor released after all.

The first was the MP944 but was secret as it was used in the F-14 Central Air Data Computer 😮
