I just read a book with deaf and hard of hearing characters. It was mentioned a number of times that folks record those using ASL or any sign language?? Like ppl just whip out their phones and record others and then post it on the internet and be like “omg how cute!” Is this a thing??

I’m HoH but I don’t use ASL (I know, I should learn). But like have people experienced this???

Ok, I genuinely want a conversation with someone about Oppenheimer

But here be some spoilers - kinda?
Florence Pugh and Cillian Murphy have two sex scenes. Why is it that we have to see Pugh’s boobs? I’m not shaming her, not saying “ooh, women should cover up!” but like what was the purpose of her nudity? I also get that boobs are not sexual. However, that’s not what a majority of society sees - she’s objectified. Knowing this, my question is why did they do it?

Does anyone else have romance books they want to read but just can’t seem to make themselves because of the character’s name? Like it being a parent’s or ex’s name? Cuz I have like three names that are no-go for me. And it’s killing me because one I REALLY want to read has one of them.

I went online used book shopping via #AbeBooks (whom I love). I got some #TheWitcher books. But some of the new books, the newest paperbacks by Orbit are fucking horrific. They’re SO ugly. Yeah the idea was cool for the show but not for book covers. Eugh.

I’m trying to do #Libby for my eBooks. But there’s such long waits. My #library consortium in MA has like 3 copies of each of the #Witcher books. How tf do they think that’s sufficient??

I thankfully own the paperbacks but I like eBooks where I can take it wherever and not have to carry a thick book. And I can highlight passages, get words defined.

I have poison ivy covering my body. The worst of it is in my elbow creases. I genuinely don’t know how I got it everywhere. Haven’t been camping. Did go swimming and there’s tons of it 10ft from where I swam and the water was full of debris from the rising water level
 but like??? COVERED

I’m nearly at the point of wanting to flay myself. Or seriously wishing humans had a zipper (iykyk)

Yep. Can remain on clothes and items for weeks and months. And yeah, can still get it in the winter even by touching the roots of it. I live in a rural area, hike, and work on farms. I know it when I see it - summer or winter. I always stay away from it, wash up real good afterwards. Yet I’m utterly covered now so it makes this whole ordeal even more aggravating lol 😆

So I watched (admittedly dozed through) the first few episodes of the new season of #theWitcher this afternoon.

Is it just me or does there seem to be an extraordinarily number of characters/plotlines?

Aside from bewilderment, it also just seems to cut into the drama, I didn't have that pull of ooo what happens next? what is this about?

Curious what people not mentally exhausted and half gorked on weed are thinking of S3.

@doctorpepper Seriously - I’m utterly broken we’re not getting Cavil’s Geralt’s hanza. Legit my favorite thing in the series. I was so looking forward to Cavil and Farren (Cahir) acting opposite one another. Exactly - I hated that. Yen would NEVER have done that. & the only reason that seemingly stopped her was Ciri being “special.” I feel like Yen wouldn’t have done that to ANY child, regardless if they were special or not.

@doctorpepper that’s kinda how I’m doing it - this is my last season watching. I mean, do I think S3 has a few issues? Sure. (My main complaint is costumes and hair). But I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. I think they’re really embodying the story and characters. If you do watch, I hope you enjoy it!
