Remembering when I was 12 and had a plan that I was going to name every kid some form of "John"

but only cool ones, y'know?

Like Ian and Johanna. Evan.

@jens unrelated/related, I have a friend named John Fink and whenever I see your name, I think that's just another form of his... (cc @jbfink )

tfw you're not entirely surprised you got a rejection but you wish it'd not taken like all 8? 12? weeks to get there.

Apparently Sirsi wants to charge us for Summon to use our WebServices for availability and ... I mean no absolutely not.

@dbs I genuinely do not know what's up with this. Like maybe their excuse is "well, it'll be so many more calls" but ???

Things I have still not fully determined:

  • why this stopped working
  • what we would really need to get this working again
  • what we should do because we're not paying them money

currently it's linking to the catalog and maybe that's just how it'll be.

the problem with being able to sew is that you look at some stuff and think "yeah, but I could sew it in a pattern I like more"

but that requires WORK.

And sometimes I just need a new dress for Reasons.

The search continues.

Also at the risk of asking a question on the internet, here goes--if you buy dresses, especially like mid-range nicer dresses ($60-150), where do you do so online?

Must accommodate the smallest plus sizes (so 16-20 and up to XL/maybe XXL -- you'd think this wouldn't be a big ask but it is).

Tech history thing:

"The total number of networks may well exceed 500 with perhaps 500,000 to 1,000,000 users. This is a collection of interconnected networks or INTERNET for short."

Periodically something goes very wrong in the identifier matching systems through which we fetch things like this book cover. And thus we get … https://catalog.libraries.psu.edu/catalog/17283979

considering the quality of Jurassic Park's covers, I am kind of surprised by how BAD this one is. I know it's posthumous but like -- they expected big bucks from it.

I swear SOMETIMES we are able to get these fixed. Although perhaps it's fitting that the most wildly egregious are not fixed.

in honor of #swib22 and the librarian in the loop elements, here's my favorite "I will never get this fixed" 😭

I’ve been hiding the silly Korok various places. Today it popped up in my underwear drawer ☺️ so I guess he’s in the game too.

So I saw this cute pattern on Etsy and then I had a moment and woke myself up laughing. So I did it. Korok from Zelda Breath of the Wild

The same Korok saying Yippee Ki-Yay Motherfucker!
